A wedding at Villa Pizzo realistically costs €90,000 to €130,000 for 50 guests and starts around €150,000 for 100 guests, once you add venue hire, external catering, production and planning. The venue hire alone is quoted between roughly €20,000 and €40,000, depending on the source and the day of the week.
Villa Pizzo is a historic villa in Cernobbio, on the western shore of Lake Como, right next to Villa d’Este. It is one of the most romantic settings on the lake, and one where you have to build the whole wedding around the venue, because the villa itself offers very little beyond the space.
How much does it cost to hire Villa Pizzo?
Published figures vary, and that is worth knowing before you plan your budget. Planners who work on the lake quote different numbers for the exclusive use of the villa:
- One planner guide lists €20,000 on weekdays, €25,000 on Fridays, Sundays and holidays, and €30,000 on Saturdays, plus 22% VAT, for the 2027 season.
- Another says the hire starts at a confirmed €40,000.
- A third gives a range of €10,000 to €40,000, with €30,000 to €40,000 suggested for 75 to 100 guests.
The differences come from the day of the week, the guest count, the spaces you include and whether VAT is added. Always ask the villa for a written quote for your date.
What does the rest of the budget look like?
These are indicative estimates from planner guides, not a price list. They show how fast the total grows beyond the hire fee.
| Item | Estimate |
|---|---|
| Venue hire | €20,000 to €40,000 |
| Catering, per person | €180 to €280 |
| Open bar | €3,000 to €4,500 |
| Production (lighting, sound, marquee) | €4,000 to €12,000 |
| Boat shuttles and couple’s arrival | €2,500 to €5,000 |
| Wedding planner | €6,000 to €10,000 |
| Flowers and styling | €5,000 to €12,000 |
| Music and entertainment | €2,000 to €4,000 |
What is not included in the hire?
Villa Pizzo has no kitchen and no restaurant, so catering is external and usually comes from an approved list. Florals, rentals, lighting, music, transport and planning are also separate.
There are no rooms either. The bridal suite is for getting ready only, so you need to book hotels for yourselves and your guests.

How many guests can Villa Pizzo host?
Sources quote between 160 and 200 guests for the ceremony and reception. The rain plan is smaller: the indoor halls or the Orangerie hold around 120 to 140 guests. If you have more guests than that, a marquee in the courtyard becomes necessary, and it is often the biggest variable in the budget. Confirm the exact limits with the villa.
What does a Villa Pizzo wedding cost by guest count?
- 50 guests over 2 to 3 days: about €90,000 to €130,000, including a contingency of around 10%.
- 100 guests: from about €150,000, and often above €250,000 with design, entertainment and transport.
Where do guests stay?
Nearby. Villa d’Este is next door, and I have written about what a wedding at Villa d’Este really feels like. Cernobbio is about five minutes away by car, and Como is about fifteen minutes. Many couples arrange boat shuttles, and arriving by boat is part of the experience.
What are the music and time rules?
They depend on the source, so ask in writing. Outdoor amplified music ends between 11 pm and midnight, and indoor music can run until about 1:30 am. If the dance floor is important to you, this is a question to settle before you book.
When is the best time to get married at Villa Pizzo?
May, June and September are the most requested months. April and October, and midweek dates, can lower the cost and improve availability. July and August are beautiful but warmer.
A Photographer’s Perspective
Villa Pizzo is a pleasure to photograph, especially if you like a quiet, documentary approach with editorial portraits when needed.
The stone pathway is the most iconic spot. At golden hour the light falls sideways across it, and the lake adds reflections. The upper terrace works well for more structured portraits, and the boat dock is perfect for the arrival.
I prefer not to stage too much. The setting guides the photos, and the morning light, soft and even, is wonderful for details and for getting ready. If you want to know more about the venue itself, read my complete guide to a Villa Pizzo wedding.

Frequently asked questions
Is Villa Pizzo more expensive than Villa d’Este?
The hire fee is lower than a full hotel buyout, but you pay separately for everything else, so the total can end up in a similar range.
Can we stay at Villa Pizzo?
No. There are no guest rooms, only a bridal suite for getting ready.
Do we need a wedding planner?
For a wedding here, I would say yes. Logistics, boats, the marquee and the approved vendors are a lot to manage from abroad.
How far ahead should we book?
For May, June and September, plan 12 to 18 months ahead.
Final thoughts
Villa Pizzo is not about the number on the contract. It is about a private villa on the lake, a dock and a garden that you build into your own story. If that is what you want, the figures above give you an honest starting point.
