A romantic wedding in the style of Botticelli – Inspiration Wedding in Tuscany

17 June 2019

When you think about Tuscany one of the very first thing you will probably think about is “Renaissance”. Together with the amazing team of Divina Fortezza we decided to style a wedding inspired by the work of Sandro Botticelli.

The shooting was held in Fortezza di Poggio Imperiale, an exclusive historic location, unique in the world for its architectural conformation and hidden symbolic meanings. Situated in Poggibonsi, a city in the Chianti area, this fortress was built near the close of the 1400s at the behest of Lorenzo il Magnifico de Medici. The design of this building was literally inspired by the Renaissance philosophy so we thought it was the best choice for our styled wedding shoot.

Our Wedding inspiration

Both romantic and natural: these were two of the keywords we would use to describe this wedding photoshoot. The birth of Venus by Botticelli was our iconic inspiration: we wanted to reproduce the colors, the delicacy and the elegance of this painting.

Italianate sapor.

As a fashion portraitist I've treaded between reality and fantasy, identity and inclusivity, time, space, culture and (be)longing. These all influenced how I photograph real people, urging me to create images that offer -in their simplicity- a connective tissue and counterpoint to my subjects. I tell stories of how chance encounters between strangers come to form families, and capture how their shared space, experiences, values and time bring about the little magic the future needs. It's all very Italian, and so universal at the same time.
