There’s something about Tuscany that feels timeless.
The light, the silence, the rolling hills that look like soft brushstrokes. Every time I drive through Val d’Orcia in the early morning, or arrive at a villa surrounded by cypress trees, I’m reminded of why this is one of the most beautiful places in the world to get married.
After twenty years behind the camera, I’ve photographed weddings in many extraordinary places, but Tuscany has a special rhythm. It’s slow, warm, elegant without trying to be. It doesn’t need to impress you. It simply exists, and you can’t help but fall into its pace. For couples planning a destination wedding in Italy, especially those coming from the US, Tuscany offers a perfect balance of intimacy, beauty and authenticity that few other regions can match.
This is the place where stories unfold naturally. Tuscany doesn’t need anything added, and this philosophy guides my entire approach to weddings here. I’ve always believed that beauty is a form of simplicity: a good light, a natural gesture, a moment that doesn’t need to be manufactured.
My work is an exercise in taking away rather than adding.
Why Tuscany Is One of the Most Beautiful Places to Get Married
If you’ve chosen Tuscany for your wedding, you probably already know some of these things instinctively. But living and working here, especially being based in central Italy, has given me a deep appreciation for what makes this region so unique.
Tuscany is a world of its own. From the Renaissance lines of Florence to the medieval charm of Siena, from the cinematic roads of Val d’Orcia to the intimate borgos hidden in the countryside, every corner feels like a painting in motion. And yet, despite its grandeur, Tuscany is incredibly personal. Couples often tell me that they feel “at home” the moment they arrive, even if it’s their first time in Italy.
The light is perhaps its most magical element. Tuscany has this warm, golden glow that seems to wrap around people. During the late afternoon, known locally as the “golden hour,” the hills turn soft and luminous, creating portraits that feel effortlessly cinematic.
I often say that Tuscany does half of the photographic work for you. The other half is being present enough to recognise when something true is happening. And that’s what I look for. Real, unfiltered moments against one of the most extraordinary landscapes in the world.

My Approach to Tuscany Weddings
My background is rooted in documentary photography and fashion portraiture. This combination shapes everything I do. It allows me to move quietly through a wedding day, preserving authenticity, while also creating images with a refined, editorial sensibility.
A documentary soul
Before entering the world of weddings, I worked as a photojournalist for a local newspaper. That experience stayed with me. It trained my eye to anticipate moments, understand people, and work with the rhythm of real life. Tuscany weddings are full of small, unspoken gestures: a mother fixing the groom’s cufflinks, a friend holding back tears, a couple breathing together before the ceremony, and these are the things I want to protect.
I’m present, but never intrusive. I let the day unfold and follow it with intuition.
A fashion-influenced eye
My years in fashion and portrait photography taught me about light, elegance, posture and composition. I bring this sensitivity into my wedding work, especially during portrait sessions. Tuscany offers incredible backdrops — cypress-lined roads, stone courtyards, sprawling vineyards — and instead of forcing poses or orchestrating moments, I guide couples gently to feel comfortable, natural, themselves.
The result is a mix of authenticity and refinement. Images that feel spontaneous, but elevated. Editorial, but not artificial.
Taking away rather than adding
In an era where wedding photography trends are everywhere — blurred frames, heavy flash, extreme cropping — I still believe that beauty comes from subtraction. I don’t add what doesn’t belong. I don’t reshape your day into something it wasn’t. I witness, interpret, and elevate what is already there.
My role is to honour the moment, not override it.
Tuscany Wedding Venues I Love Working In
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of photographing weddings in some of the most iconic and beloved venues across Tuscany. Each of them has its own personality and rhythm. These are places that offer not only a beautiful setting, but also an atmosphere that enhances the entire storytelling experience.
Val d’Orcia
Val d’Orcia is perhaps the most symbolic representation of Tuscany. Its rolling hills, wheat fields, lonely cypress trees and sweeping horizons create an almost surreal backdrop. Places like Pienza, San Quirico d’Orcia and Bagno Vignoni are among my favourite locations for intimate weddings and couple portraits.
Castiglion del Bosco
A masterpiece overlooking Val d’Orcia, Castiglion del Bosco is elegant, refined and incredibly peaceful. The light here is unmatched. Weddings at this venue have a quiet sophistication that fits perfectly with my approach to photography.
Borgo Santo Pietro
This venue feels like an estate from another century, with gardens, stone pathways and an incredible sense of intimacy. It’s perfect for couples who want an elevated yet deeply romantic atmosphere.
Villa Cetinale
One of the most iconic villas in Tuscany, known for its gardens, terraces and timeless architectural lines. The symmetry of the estate lends itself beautifully to editorial-style photography, while still keeping a sense of warmth and authenticity.
Villa di Geggiano
Close to Siena, this villa is a perfect blend of Tuscan countryside charm and aristocratic elegance. Its views and atmosphere make it a fantastic location for sunset sessions.
Lucca, Florence and Chianti region
Smaller borgos, vineyards, boutique hotels and Renaissance-era villas make this area a treasure chest of picturesque settings and intimate corners.
Each venue is a world within a world. My goal is not only to photograph the place, but to capture how it feels to be there. The atmosphere, the quiet moments, the way the light moves through the space.

Planning a Tuscany Wedding from Abroad
Most of my couples come from the United States, often from New York, California, Florida or Texas. Planning a wedding from another continent can feel overwhelming at first, but Tuscany is incredibly “destination-friendly” and many couples are pleasantly surprised by how smooth everything becomes once the right team is in place.
Here are some insights from the perspective of someone who has lived and worked in Italy for two decades.
Travel and logistics
Tuscany is accessible. Florence and Pisa have international airports, while Rome is just a quick connection away. Most wedding venues offer in-house coordination or work closely with planners who specialise in destination weddings.
The right time of year
Spring and early autumn are magical here. May, June, September and early October offer the best light, the most pleasant temperatures and the most beautiful colours. July and August can be hotter, but still incredibly beautiful for sunset ceremonies.
Working with a planner
A planner is essential for a destination wedding, especially in Tuscany. They understand the local culture, the logistics, the vendors and the rhythm of the region. I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside many talented planners who elevate the entire experience for couples.
Timeline and light
Light in Tuscany changes fast, especially around golden hour. I work with planners and couples to build a timeline that maximises the best moments of the day. Even small adjustments can make a huge difference in the final images.
Choosing the right photographer
You will spend more time with your photographer than with any other vendor. Feeling comfortable is essential. My goal is to create an atmosphere where you can be yourselves and forget the camera. I guide you when needed, but the real beauty comes naturally.
My Work in Tuscany

About Me: A Short Story of Why I Photograph Tuscany Weddings
I often think that my relationship with Tuscany started long before I ever photographed a wedding here. Growing up in central Italy, Tuscany was always close — close enough to feel familiar, but still magical. When I began my career as a photojournalist, I didn’t imagine that one day I would tell love stories for couples traveling from all over the world.
But Tuscany taught me something important. That beauty doesn’t need to be complicated. That a story, when told honestly, becomes timeless. And that photography is not about forcing moments, but recognising the ones that matter.
My fashion background added another layer: attention to detail, light, composition and elegance. It helped me understand how to elevate a moment without altering it. And this combination eventually became my signature.
Today, after twenty years of experience, I’ve photographed weddings across Italy, from Lake Como to the Amalfi Coast, from Florence to Venice, but Tuscany remains one of the regions I feel most connected to. Its landscapes reflect the way I like to work: open, honest, natural, refined.
Every time I photograph a wedding here, I’m reminded of why I chose this life in the first place.
